Shift swaps, give-aways and drops: how approvals work
Workers can give a shift away, swap it with a coworker or drop it, right from the shift. Every rule is checked first, and you decide whether a manager approves each one.
Step 1: Open the shift
The worker opens their upcoming shift, before it starts. At the bottom are three choices.
- Give away offers it to every coworker who could work it under your rules.
- Swap with… lists only the coworkers, and their shifts, that fit both people.
- Cancel this shift drops it, with a reason and, if they like, a photo or a file.
The shift stays theirs until it really moves, and the offer ends on its own when the shift starts.

Step 2: Give it away
- Add a note for your coworkers if you like, for example why you can’t make it.
- Tap Give it away. Coworkers see it under Schedule → Offers → From coworkers, and the first to tap Take this shift gets it.

Step 3: Approve it, or let it go through
With Approve swaps & drops on under Menu → Rules, each one waits in Menu → Requests for a manager.
- Read who takes which shift.
- Tap Approve (every rule is checked again first) or Decline.
With it off, a give-away or swap happens as soon as the coworker says yes, and a drop happens at once, unless a notice or minimum-crew rule warns (then a manager decides) or blocks it.

Good to know
- Workers need the role permission Give away or swap shifts to give away or swap.
- A worker can never get past a rule by themselves: a rule that blocks stops the swap for everyone.
