How far someone lives from the job site

For owners and managers1 min readUpdated

Open a shift from its job site and tap a person's name. The row opens and shows the hours they have that week, how often they have worked that site, and how far they live from it BY ROAD with the drive time, for example "15 km · 14 min drive" (the drive time is without traffic).

Tap it and a map opens: the job site in the middle with a dashed circle around it, and they live somewhere on that circle. The circle is the straight-line distance, which is usually a little shorter than the drive. The map never shows where anyone lives, and a home address never leaves the server.

It is shown to the people who can assign people to that shift, for the people they look after; workers never see each other's distance.

When there is no distance the row says why: no home address on file, the address could not be found on the map, the job site has no map location yet (give the job site its address), no road route, or it is still being worked out (it fills in a few seconds later; if it does not, tap the line to try again). The people picker's "km away" and Closest use the straight-line distance.
