Put someone on a shift: the people picker

For owners and managers1 min readUpdated

Open the shift from its job site and tap an open position to pick a person. The list shows "Available" next to each free person, or why not (for example "Can't work Tuesdays" or "On time off Oct 12–14"), with free people first. The list is a full page (the same one Quick add opens).

Beside each name it shows their role, how far they live from the job site, the hours they already have that week and how often they have worked that site. The filters on top can be combined: Available, Qualified (has what the shift requires), Closest (nearest first), Knows this site, Fewest hours, and any roles; Clear takes them all off.

Distance needs the job site to have a map location and the person to have an address on their profile; the manager only ever sees the distance, never the address. An assignment is an OFFER: the person gets a notification and must accept it, and until they do the position shows as pending.

You can also pick yourself (an owner or manager working the shift too): your own name is in the list, and putting yourself on is confirmed at once, with no offer to accept. If a rule only warns you can book them anyway; if it blocks, you cannot. If offer expiry is on under Rules, an unanswered offer lapses and the position reopens.
