Before your first day: your papers for a new job

For workers3 min readUpdated

After you accept a job offer, Before your first day sits at the top of that company’s Home until your first shift. It lists what the company asks for, from its own papers: to sign, to read and agree, to bring and to fill in. When everything it needs is done, you are ready to work.

Step 1: Your list

In the company, tap Before your first day at the top of Home.

  1. To do: what is left, with when each is due. A paper sent back has the company’s note: fix it and send it again.
  2. Waiting for the company: what you sent that someone is checking (Being checked).
  3. Done: signed, agreed, approved or sent.

The bar at the top counts them, like 5 of 8 done. Your first day at the end has what to know: where to go, a link or a video.

Step 2: A form to fill in, or photos to send

Tap a paper to open it.

  1. A blank form, or a paper to sign on paper: Download PDF, fill it in or sign it, then Take a photo or Choose a file, for every page.
  2. Tap Send to the company. It shows Being checked until they approve it.

A Document to bring (an ID, a licence): a photo of the front, and the back when asked, with its number and expiry. A Form to fill with questions: answer them and tap Send. Paper to read and agree and Our rules (the company’s own rules, made from its settings): read them, then Agree. Info: things to know, nothing to do.

Step 3: Sign in the app, and your signed copy

A Paper to sign: tap Sign in the app. Put your initials on each page when asked, then sign once with your finger or mouse, and tick the line that says signing in the app counts the same as on paper. Where the company allows it, you can sign it on paper instead.

  1. Your signed copy has one more page at the end: the signing record, with your signature, when you signed and on which device.
  2. The copy check proves the file hasn’t changed since it was signed. Nobody can edit a signed paper; a new version means signing again.

Tap Download for your copy. The company has the same file.

You’re done when…

  • Every paper says Done, and the card on Home says you’re ready for your first day.

Good to know

  • Your first day is the start date on your offer (a shift booked before it is not your first day).
  • When everything the company needs is done (and approved, where someone checks it), you are Ready to work: the card says You’re ready for your first day (today only on the day itself, then tomorrow, the weekday in the week before, or the date), with your first shift’s time and place once it is booked, and Directions.
  • You are reminded 2 days before a paper is due, on the day, and a few times after.
  • Your papers stay in that company’s Menu → Documents. A form nobody checks can be answered again there.
  • A company can also send a paper to people already working there, like a new policy or a handbook to agree to again: it shows as a small card on Home. In Menu → Documents, the new version is listed with its version, and the one you agreed to before stays under Older versions.
  • Only you and the people who handle papers at that company see them; a Payroll only paper, only the people who run payroll. Papers you signed stay with the company if you delete your account.
