Work Log: log hours, pay and tips from any job

For workers3 min readUpdated

A second job, cash shifts, your own clients: the Work Log keeps their hours, pay, overtime and tips in the same app. Only you see it. Its days show as Self-logged, apart from the hours a company recorded, and the company can confirm them later.

Step 1: Add a job

On your own side, open Menu → Work Log (or + Log work from another job on Home).

  1. Tap Add a job.

One active job is free. Logging more than one at a time is part of Ur Timesheet Plus.

Menu → Work Log.

Step 2: Your job and your pay

  1. The company: pick it if it is on Ur Timesheet, or type its name. Then where you work (if you like) and your position.
  2. Your pay: per hour, per day or salary.
  3. More options: the pay period, overtime, breaks, travel time, mileage, extra pay rules, rounding and reminders.

Then tap Done. You can change any of it later, in the job’s Menu → Job details.

Step 3: Log your hours

The job opens like a company, with Home, Schedule, Pay and Menu.

  1. Tap Start when you begin. While it runs: Start a break, Tips, and Stop and save when you finish.
  2. Or tap Add hours afterwards: start and end, just hours, or a full day.

One timer runs at a time across your jobs, and the phone and the website show the same one. On the phone it works with no signal. It reminds you at 12 hours and stops by itself at 16, marked to check the time.

Step 4: Add anything to a day

  1. Under Add anything: place, break, overtime, travel time, mileage, tips, bonus, expense, a note or a photo.

The total updates as you go. Every change is kept in the day’s history, and a day added more than a day later is marked Added later.

Step 5: Your pay, and Did I get paid right?

Open Pay.

  1. This pay period, estimated, with what it is made of, and your next pay day.
  2. Did I get paid right?: on a finished pay period, tap Mark as paid and type what you got. It says Paid in full, or how much short or over.

It is an estimate from what you entered: your employer’s pay slip is what counts. Only you see it.

Step 6: Share it

  1. Share PDF or spreadsheet: pick the dates, and whether pay, notes and photos show. Every page says Self-logged.

Step 7: Get your hours confirmed

In the job’s Menu, under Get it confirmed:

  1. The company is on Ur Timesheet: tap Ask … to confirm, untick any day you don’t want to send, and send it. Not on it yet? Invite … to Ur Timesheet shares, copies or emails an invite.

They see your name and those days only: where, times, breaks, travel and hours. Never your pay, tips, notes, photos or other jobs. Confirmed days show as Confirmed by the company, and count on your profile only if you turn on Show on my profile in Job details.

Good to know

  • Self-logged days never count as verified, never go on your portfolio, résumé or letters, and never join a company’s timesheets or payroll.
  • If Plus ends, nothing is lost: one job keeps logging, the others are read-only, and you can still share, end or delete them.
  • A deleted day or job stays in Menu → Work Log → Recently deleted for 30 days, then it is erased for good.
  • Location is off unless you turn on Save my location at Start and Stop: one reading at each, never in between, never a map. The website timer saves no location.
  • Each job can remind you: Did you work today? at your usual end time when nothing is logged, and 15 minutes before a planned shift.
